Best of Show

The 28th Annual Educational Advertising Competition awarded a Best of Show for Florida International University's video based virtual tour. The challenge for FIU was communicating to international and out-of-state students the campus experience. This HTML 5 based tour incorporates original photo and video galleries, direct content links, and an interactive google map of FIU's many campuses in an intuitive tablet friendly interface. This allows students and parents alike to get a sense of place in both academics and the FIU campus community.

As Creative Director on the project many designers and developers made this project a success. Special thanks to Catchfire Media, Steve Allen Photography, Stamats, Inc., and FIU.

Uniquely Brilliant. Brilliantly Unique.

New College of Florida is a unique, quirky, and seriously smart public institution. With no traditional grading system and more than 70% of students going to some of the top grad schools in the country a unique message was needed. Uniquely Brilliant, Brilliantly Unique tagline was utilized to highlight not only the quirkiness but also the brilliant way both faculty and students shape their own education. A full suite of recruitment publications and QR Code based videos were created to highlight this unique institution and in doing so attracting the kind of student that not only is a good fit, but also thrives. Be Responsive-able!

Responsive web design is a design approach aimed at crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing experience—easy reading and navigation without the need of resizing or panning on a wide range of devices whether it be from desktop computers, tablets, or mobile phones (view creativemellen.com on different devices for an example). This approach also allows for specific content to be hidden if not relevant for certain sized devices. No longer do you need to make a specific site for a specific device. If you are thinking about redesigning your site consider investing in a responsive design. It will save you money in the long run. One design, compatible with all devices. It will save you time. If new devices come on the market the site will automatically adapt. This makes your site relevent longer. Your conversions will increase. When people visit your site, they are typically more likely to take action if they have a good experience. So be responsive-able and consider this approach for your next web project.
