A New Website with Endless Pawsibilities

Music ConstructED, a division of West Music, partnered with designer Kevin Mellen and web developer Nick Bushman to help develop a new, all-inclusive online resource with great filtering and engagement tools for general music educators. Educator-created resources include lesson inspirations, in-depth curricula, and a collaborative community for music educators across the globe.

We collaborated with the Music ConstructED team to understand the different types of resources music educators need. With articles and lesson plans as a key focus, our top priority was to find a way for them to easily filter and search for specific resources. We mapped out an entire flow diagram to determine the desired functionality for the user that the team would be able to manage. The structure of the website was then custom crafted to incorporate the main categories and other necessary navigation to create a seamless user interface.
A fun and energetic color scheme and icon identification gives user feedback to which category and content they are viewing. Image-based, searchable “cards” give users a friendly and easy way to navigate 75+ articles and 100+ products. The custom, searchable filtering system includes categories, topics, subtopics, concepts, grade levels, and authors. User-focused tools, such as commenting, topic forums, and author contributor calls-to-action invite and encourage the community to interact with the brand and empower music teachers to build a better classroom.
