I don’t know everything.
I remember it as if it were yesterday. It was 9:05 am on a Thursday, and I was cranky, cold, and attempting to muster up enough courage to get out of bed. I mapped out my daily schedule and checked my email.
Left swipe, delete. Left swipe, delete. Oh, wait—that’s new.
“Internship/Part-time Design Firm,” was the title of the email. I thought to myself, “this can’t be real, I haven’t applied anywhere!” Of course, being the occasional Curious George I am, I took a glance at Kevin’s website. Clean, well-written, organized, and exactly the type of design work that I wanted to do post-college. I figured I would go for it, and here I am.
With three months of experience at Creative Mellen behind me, I am more than happy to say that it has helped me grow tremendously as a designer in such a short period of time. I have a new appreciation for the value of sketching, brainstorming, and (lots of) coffee. With his creative and innovative mindset, Kevin has opened up many doors for me I never thought possible. I never once felt like just another intern—instead, a trusted fellow creative. Creative Mellen has inspired me to challenge my abilities and allow myself to learn through failure. I know that I don’t know everything, and I’m okay with that. The design world is constantly changing and Kevin has (and will continue to) prepare me for bigger and better things.
As I continue my adventures at Creative Mellen, I am happy to say that I’ll be working in a field that I love. It’s not a job, but more of a lifestyle.
Cheers.
